Meeting up with Fiona was an added bonus, after she left I had a wander about for a little then headed off to Leith to book into the Premier Inn for the night, have dinner, showered, dressed in my finery hair and make-up done, then headed off out for the evening,
By 7pm I was sitting in the lecture theatre at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, and feeling rather excited, a few months previously I had entered the Botanic's annual photography competition, and had two of my images shortlisted, up until I arrived at the John Hope Gateway Gallery next to the Restaurant I had no idea which images were shortlisted,
The speaker and the judge of the winning category winners was none other than
Laurie Campbell
The award winning Natural History and Landscape Photographer
Both my images were short listed in the Wildlife Category Received a Highly Commended, Both were macro shots and although I did not win the category, the best part for me was hearing what Laurie had to say about my images in particular my hoverfly.
Both Highly Commended images below
