March I went to my first Butterfly Conservation Meeting at Battleby where I met up with Apithanny and Ashleigh Whiffin who were speaking at the conference and whom I follow on Twitter. I had to make a few minor adjustments to my travel plans for my May trip. and a fair bit of time taken up with emails and letters to get sponsorship for the camera clubs 70th Anniversary photography competition for residents of Cowal.
April was mainly taken up with a bit of shopping for the trip and packing some of my holiday clothing, and printing posters for the camera club competition, not to mention getting mega excited about my trip.
May!!.... finally arrives and not long until I head off on my travels, and I am checking my list of what to pack against what I have packed, and getting the camera gear sorted out What to take..............as usual a lot of stuff I didn't use.
Finally the day arrives, car loaded up and I am off and head to Bilsbarrow my first overnight stop where I met up for lunch with the lovely Carlye Baines one of my twitter friends, the following morning I drove to Little Witcombe before heading to Poole the following morning, and meeting up with my crazy twitter friend Gina, who I had the pleasure of meeting last year, and then up in the early hours to head to the ferry to my holiday destination #Jersey for two wonderful weeks, weather was fantastic as it was last year, I won't give an entire day to day account of my holiday, but by far the best and most memorable was the day after I arrived.
The evening of my arrival my good entomology friend Simon Robson had arranged to take me out and show me some places that would be good some insect macro photography, and would pick me up the next morning at 10am, I have known Simon for 4+ years through Flickr and Twitter, so it was a pleasure to finally meet him.
It was not just the insects Simon pointed out some of the islands wildflowers too, It was the quickest 3 hours of my holiday but by far the best.
So two weeks in Jersey and I still couldn't fit in everything I wanted to do ...............I will just have to go back again
My next stop was with My cousin Bob and his wife Gina, for 9 days, and had arranged to meet Rebecca (the Butterfly Whisperer) and her young sister Sarah with their mum Nicola at Stratford Butterfly Farm while I was at my cousins just an hour away, Rebecca and her Mum ana I follow each other on Twitter and it was through 9 year old Rebecca's inspiration I joined the Butterfly Conservation Society, it was an amazing day,
before I knew it it was the end of a wonderful holiday and I was homeward bound.
next month is my annual trip to the Farnes
and I am looking at another holiday no prizes for guessing where ;)
