Welcome To My Website
About me:
Welcome to my website. I set the website up back in February 2013, I had always said when I reached 100,000 views on Flickr I would start up a website, to be honest, I didn't really think that would happen. So shortly after reaching that target, the website was born.
Choosing a name for the site was easy as it has been my username on a few sites including Flickr over the years since 2008.
It came about way before that, it was the name I traded under when I ran my own small business “Sybalan Fragrances” which I started back in 2003, the name came from both my own and my husband's first names.
I was born in Glasgow in 1956 and came to Argyll in 2001.
I have been interested in photography since the age of 12, starting with a Box Brownie that belonged to my father. My first SLR was back in 1993 when I inherited one of my father's cameras the Zorki 4, my interest really started to grow from then on.
In 2005 My husband bought me the Canon 350D DSLR with Sigma 200 mm and 500 mm lenses.
I was medically retired in 2007 after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS in 2006. I can honestly say my best drug is my camera and being out enjoying nature.
In 2008, I became a member of the Cowal Camera Club, and I am currently Vice President since April 2022
During one of the club's exhibitions, I was asked by a young lad where can I go to take photos because I live in Glasgow?
My reply was do you have a garden because there are many things to photograph in the garden.
I have often spent the day in the garden taking shots of insects, flowers and birds, there is always something to photograph.
I am lucky to have some beautiful scenery on my doorstep, and Benmore Botanical Gardens, about 6 miles (9.66 km) away and a two-hour drive takes me to the Rannoch Moor and Glencoe.
I love photographing wildlife and have a passion for Red Squirrels, Crested Tits, Puffins and Macro Photography,
My favourite places are Cowal, Morayshire, Glencoe, Black Isle, Sutherland, Orkney, Beadnell, Seahouses The Farne Islands, and Jersey Channel Islands and hoping to add to that list.
My Equipment consists of
Canon 760D and 77D, Canon EOS R10, Canon EF-EOS R Adapter, Lenses 18-55 mm, 35-70 mm, 55-250 mm, 60 mm Macro, 100 mm Macro, MPE 65 mm Macro, Canon 10-18 mm, Canon EF 300 mm f/4L IS USM
Sigma, 70– 200 mm, Canon RF 100-400mm, K&F Concept 882C Professional Flash, K&F Concept KF-150 Ring Flash, Neewer NW-561 Flash Speedlite Kit and YONGNUO YN24EX E-TTL Macro Flash Speedlite.
