Although with the recent weather we were not sure if we were going to get out to the islands, Monday the 1st June was wild, gale force winds and heavy rain, it was a lot better on the Tuesday for heading to Seahouses, by the time we reached Edinburgh the sun was shining albeit still a bit windy, but you cant have it all, we were joined later with a friend Janice and her son Fin, and this was their first trip to the Farnes I doubt it will be the last.
Tuesday evening we went into Beadnell and looked around the harbour, we photographed House Martins collecting mud and building their nests, back to our accommodations to get ready for the main trip.
Wednesday 8.30am we headed to the harbour to collect our tickets, unfortunately conditions were such that the boat was not going out until 11.45am because the weather prevented the landing on Staple Island but we did get to sail around the island and stop to take photos of the seabirds and seals from the boat, before landing on the Inner Farne, to pass the time until it was time for the boat we nipped down to Bamburgh to the dunes to see what was about, it was at this point I realised there was an intermittent fault with my lens, and it was at times struggling to focus, It taught me a lesson, I always take both cameras with me on a trip or holiday and often my 200mm and 500mm sigma lenses, but this time I took my wide angle, macro and the trusted 55-250mm I use so often really it should not have came as a great shock to me as I use that lens most of the time and have done for the past 6 years taking thousands of photos when away on trips and holidays, So I will make sure I don't do that again, but despite the problem I still got plenty of shots I am pleased with, despite missing a lot of flight shots.
converting and re-sizing my images for my site which I will add over the weekend, so please do drop by later.
